Included with some commentaries and briefing packs (on disc or download) SMIL is Short for Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language which is an extensible markup language (XML) that describes multimedia events and objects. It essentially allows for audio and images to be packaged and played back as a synchronized slideshow.
SMIL is used in the interface of many DVD players, and has been used by Hulu as part of its video-on-demand interface. Software that supports SMIL includes Quicktime and Realplayer.
Due to diminishing compatibility and the advances in Video compression and streaming, Koinonia House no longer produces this slideshow format.
